Fitness Results Are a Sure Thing

So I’ve been doing this really fun fitness program called Sure Thing for the past 8 weeks, and it’s past time that I talk about it! I really like to try things for myself and make sure that I love them before I gush about them, but in this case, I really could have started gushing right from the get-go.

As a good friend said after day two, “I mean these are an ADHD dream!”

YASSSSSSSS!

But let me explain.

To someone like me, I get really bored with repetition in my workouts. I like to switch it up, to keep myself guessing, and to have surprises and variety along the way. This program does a really great job of that! It’s got multiple workout formats that keep the program fresh, engaging, and fun, making the process truly enjoyable.

Then this other thing happened for me somewhere around week 3 of the program.

I had recently sized UP in my pants because the ones I had in my closet were no longer ready for all this jelly 😜 So I decided to buy the clothes that fit ME, instead of putting all this focus on fitting into the clothes that didn’t.

I had let go of all those uncomfortable feelings some of us have when the jeans get too tight, which was actually a big deal for me.

Little did I know, I had accepted where I was at as my new normal just in time for the magic to start happening.

Unexpected Results

I had bought these two new pairs of jeans, a size bigger than my norm for many years. One pair fit well, but the other, I put on, wore ONE time and decided I had to return them ASAP because they were too tight and I was uncomfortable in them. I didn’t wear them for a couple weeks until one day, I put them on in a hurry to go get the kids and, LO AND BEHOLD I was absolutely shocked at how well they suddenly fit!

Now, I don’t do a whole lot of measuring anymore as I do these programs since I kind of consider myself in a maintenance phase, but let’s just say that something in Sure Thing was doing some chiseling on those areas of my body that make me more self-conscious than others. AKA, my lower body. That was such a pleasant surprise when I wasn’t really expecting it!

Also, the scale started moving in the right direction, something I don’t see much these days at 38 years old, even though I started this program while I was on vacation in Vermont and fully enjoying myself. The scale was STILL moving in the right direction on week 4 –our first recovery week– while I was in Virginia, not sleeping well at all (two kids in the same bed with you will do it), and I only completed 1.5 workouts total that week.

So what IS this sorcery, you ask?

Introducing… Sure Thing!

Sure Thing is based on a scientifically proven approach (not so much sorcery…) to fitness – Type Training – that alternates Endurance weeks with Power-based strength training weeks, with every 4th week dedicated to functional recovery. Combined with easy-to-follow eating plans and clean supplements, Megan gives you an all-in plan for a healthy, strong body!

This is what it looks like:

Fitness: 5 Days a week for 3 weeks, followed by an active recovery week. We do two rounds of that.

  • Type Training alternates Endurance and Power-based strength training. It’s how Megan personally works out, and she’s like, really solid proof that this approach works!

No guesswork

Perhaps my favorite part of having a program all laid out for me is that I don’t have to spend all this time figuring out what my workout should look like. Trying to watch videos or print out instruction pages to get a feel for each move, searching through countless things on YouTube, or going off my own knowledge (or lack there of) in attempting to design the appropriate structure of a full body program.

Like, what?!?!

Here’s the story: Megan held a contest last summer to raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, a cause that’s near and dear to her heart. In exchange for a donation, everyone who contributed got a chance to be chosen to work out on stage live with her at our company’s annual Summit conference Super Workout in St. Louis! I’ve been to a couple of these now (the first was in Indianapolis), and it’s like a 90 minute sweat-a-thon where the city blocks off the streets for thousands of people to come together for a work out. It’s TOUGH, but it’s also so fun and motivating to be surrounded by all that good energy! Several of the BODi trainers go up on stage and lead thousands of Energized people (IYKYK 😉) through a ten minute segment each with a small cast of their choice.

What Equipment Will I Need for Sure Thing?

Strength Slides

The Strength Slides give you the opportunity to expand your exercise arsenal with dynamic core-strengthening moves while shaping your entire body. This is what they look like:

These little guys may not look like much, but the Strength Slides are designed to increase the intensity of your workouts by engaging the core, stimulating the glutes, and activating muscles you didn’t know you had! They come with booties so the slides can be used on a variety of smooth surfaces throughout the home.

Dumbbells

The program will use a wide range of light, medium and heavy dumbbells. I think I used all the things from 8s to 60, no joke! This is largely because many of the workouts are set up in pyramid style blocks for each move. This is what I mean by that: the reps may go from 12, to 10, to 8, back up to 10, then back up to 12 so you can really experiment with your range of strength! Less reps? Let’s try a bigger weight or more time under tension! It gives you the opportunity to push yourself and up-level in small increments.

The workout formats are intelligently designed to allow for maximum self-challenge and to REALLY progress over time! The little group of us who just completed this program had a lot of cool celebratory moments when we realized we could do more than we had previously thought! 💪

Tracker Sheets

It’s so helpful to use a tracker while doing a full fitness program. Seriously, the secret to safe and steady progression is by recording your weights, reps, and mentality over the course of a program. When you finish Sure Thing you’ll be able to reflect on how far you’ve come, mentally and physically. I say mentally because when you review a tracker and come across certain mentalities that stick out to you, you’ll remember exactly how you felt that day, that moment, in that workout. And you can think, “look at me now!”

Progress is NOT all weight lifting or weight loss; improving your mindset is also a MEGA WIN that is too often overlooked!

And with a tracker, when you go back for Sure Thing round two? (Which I’m confident that you would…)
